The CHANGE
Bishop Davis is always available giving of himself without hesitation and unselfishly to serve not only the people of God, but other leaders as well. He takes his responsibility and position of Shepherd very serious as he fathers, protects, counsels and guides each and every sheep God has placed in his care. The word Pastor captures his original call and qualifications (1 Tim 3:1-7 & Tit 1:5-9) but now the more accurate representation of His current leadership and future growth is inherent in the change of his title to Bishop.
It was recommended by the church body and leaders of Saint James Missionary Church that Bishop Sidney L. Davis be consecrated as Overseer/Bishop on December 17, 2011. The purpose and intent was to recognize and honor the spiritual leadership of God through manifesting an adequate biblical representation of the current transformation, growth, responsibilities and vision of Saint James Missionary church. The office of Bishop is not grounded by the number of churches but the expansion and level of responsibility. Subsequently, there remains a strong desire for his diligence, character, integrity, leadership and oversight by a wealth of Pastors and Government Officials. He has recently founded Churches United in Christ International where he is the prelate and oversees several churches. Bishop Davis is the Co-President for Minister’s Taking A Stand for the State of Virginia and a member of the Hampton Roads Ecumenical Council of Bishops.
Bishop Davis believes in I Peter 5:2-3 “Be Shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care serving as overseers – not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
