Dr. Tamara Morton
Dr. Tamara Morton was born in Virginia Beach, Va.; she is the wife of Pastor Jay Morton and they have three blessed boys, Jayvon Morton and her two stepsons Jaylen Morton and Tre Morton. She is the daughter of Bishop Sidney and Pastor Barbara Davis.
Dr. Morton graduated from Norfolk State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Business/Entrepreneurial Studies, and from Regent University with a Master of Arts Degree in Practical Theology and a Doctorate Degree in Strategic Leadership. She previously was a real estate paralegal for 10 years with the City of Virginia Beach City Attorney’s Office. Also she is a Notary and a Certified Life Coach. Dr. Morton came to Christ at a young age at the Big Piney Grove Baptist Church in Va. Beach, under the late Bishop Charles A. Vinson where she gained her training and teaching. Currently she is the Lead Pastor of St. James Missionary Church of Va. Beach where she stands with her father, Bishop Sidney Davis in ministry to make a difference in the new millennium. She was licensed to preach the gospel on her birthday, September 24, 2004, and was ordained on June 12, 2010 by the Sharon Missionary Baptist Association.
She has been involved in several organizations in the community and church including Vice-president of the Tidewater Youth Missionaries and Vice-president of the Va. Beach Youth Council of the NAACP. Dr. Morton provides coaching, tutoring, and job-readiness skills in the church and community. She has written many scholarly articles and in October 2021 she was a presenter at the Annual Research Roundtable Conference for Servant Leadership hosted by Regent University School of Business and Leadership. She also published her first article on “The Impact of Servant Leadership on Racism in Society” in October 2022. As of May 2022, Dr. Morton established her own consulting business, TMorton Consulting, LLC.
However, the most important thing to know about Dr. Morton is that she loves the Lord, and has a holistic approach in ministry by reaching others for Christ to meet their spiritual, physical, and mental needs. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 27. For truly the Lord is her Light and her Salvation.
